Sinopsis

En el mítico barrio Reus, en Montevideo, la lucha de poder entre los comerciantes judíos y la familia del “Tano”, esta tomando fuerza. Tano , es el líder de su numerosa familia, con profundas raíces en el barrio.

En las calles se comenta que el Tano esta por volver a Reus, después de un tiempo en la cárcel. Pero las cosas se estan poniendo difíciles. Una nueva droga, Pasta base, ha llegado a las viejas calles. Los códigos que habían imperado por generaciones, fueron olvidados.

Tano esta planeando un gran golpe para derrotar a Don Elías , el mas poderoso comerciante judío de la zona, quien lo envió tras las rejas.

Con la ayuda de “El Negro” , su hermano de toda la vida, y el resto de la familia del Tano, vaciarán uno de los depósitos de Don Elías.

Al ver su negocio vacío, Don Elías reconoce el estilo. No es la primera vez que el Tano ha cruzado su patio. Seguidamente, intenta convencer al resto de los comerciantes a que lo sigan en su venganza. Su liderazgo en su comunidad esta en juego.

Una gran fiesta se prepara. Es el cumpleaños de Esmeralda y la gran familia del Tano se reune. Esmeralda y su hijo Maykol la principal causa del Tano para volver a su viejo barrio, aunque sea peligroso. Es la primera vez que verá a Esmeralda desde que salió de la prisión y eso lo inquieta mas que nunca. Pero la fiesta,  reconcilia a todos.

Don Elías es presionado por la comunidad judía y por su propia familia. Su esposa Hannah , esta organizando el Bar Mitzvah de su hijo Leonardo , y Don Elías, dedicado completamente a los negocios, no la ayuda.

Despues de haber convencido a los otros comerciantes, recluta a un siniestro hombre del tiempo de la dictadura militar, “el Coronel”. Es hora de tomar la ofensiva.

Reus es la historia de un barrio, dos familias y de los códigos con los que viven. Es un barrio histórico de inmigrantes, el sitio de la primera sinagoga de Uruguay, donde grandes tiendas y pobres conventillos coexisten lado a lado.

Con un ojo realista, vemos a esta gente que lucha por sobrevivir en estos tiempos turbulentos, en los que los viejos códigos ya no son respetados. Dos muertes sacuden al vecindario, y su delicado balance se quiebra. Tano decide volver a Reus, a su familia, y a enfrentar a Don Elias.

Full Synopsis

In the mythical neighborhood of Reus, in Montevideo, the power struggle between the Jewish businessmen and the Tano's family is heating up. Tano (32) is the leader of the Tanos family, a family with deep roots in the neighborhood. Word in the street is that Tano is coming back to Reus, after spending some time in jail.

But things are getting tricky. A new drug, pasta base, has arrived on the old streets. The codes that have rule for generations are forgotten.

Tano is planning a big hit to get back at Don Elias (56), the most powerful of the Jewish businessmen. He was the one who had Tano sent to jail. With the help of El Negro (32), his longtime brother, and the rest of the Tano´s family they empty one of Don Elias´ storehouses.

Looking at his empty deposit, Don Elias recognizes the style. It´s not the first time Tano has crossed his path. Next in his mind is how to convince the rest of the Jewish businessmen to follow him in his vendetta. His leadership in his community is at stake.

A big party is on the making. It´s Esmeralda´s birthday, and the great Tano´s family gathers. Esmeralda and their son Maykol (10) are the main reason for Tano to go back to his old hood, even if it´s dangerous. Tano is nervous about seeing her for the first time since getting out. But the party,  gets everybody reconciled.

Don Elias is under pressure from the Jewish community and his own family. His wife Hannah (50) is organizing the Bar Mitzvah of their son Leonardo (12), and Don Elias is not helping. He's all business. After convincing the other businessmen, he recruits a sinister man from the time of the military dictatorship, the Colonel. It's time to take the offensive.

"Reus" is the store of a neighborhood, of two families and of the codes they live by. It´s a historical neighborhood of immigrants, the place of the first synagogue of Uruguay, where big stores and poor slums exist side by side. With a realistic eye we see these people as they struggle for surviving in this troubled times, where the old codes are not respected anymore.

Two deaths shock the neighborhood. The delicate balance of the neighborhood is broken, and Tano takes the decision of moving back to Reus, to his family, and face Don Elías.
